To make your home more memorable and stand out from the other homes for sale, turn your home into a Smart Home. It's not only the Millennials and Gen Ys desiring a house with the smart home technology that can keep them connected and secure, but even the Baby Boomer generation look for more convenience in their lives and they know how to use it! Afterall, it was the Baby Boomers who invented computers that we know today.
Connecting devices to your smart phone can not only save energy, money, and time but make your home desirable. There are four categories of smart devices:
Utilities - Thermostat, light bulbs, sprinkler, electrical outlet, ceiling fan, stove, washer and dryer, powered window shades, etc.
Safety - Wireless key entry, doorbell, garage door, outdoor lighting, etc.
Security - Burglar alarm, smoke alarm, carbon monoxide detector, or any sensor that triggers a call for emergency assistance.
Audio / Visual - Personal assistant such as Alexa or Siri, TVs, music, etc.
The big box home improvement stores such as Lowes and Home Depot carry a plethora of smart home compatible devices. If you are invested into the Alexa series from Amazon, you can find just about every device out there that works with Alexa as well. My personal favorite is the smart home garage door opener. Most home invasions come through the garage, so this one may be a must for safety.
With today’s technology available to consumers, it can be pretty easy and inexpensive to get started. Setting your home up with Smart Home devices can be a great marketing tool, and make your home memorable, without too much out of pocket.
